Easy Way To Filter Water

My Brita Water Pitcher |
The filter takes care of that chlorine taste and odor if it exists in your water. It also takes out copper, mercury and cadmium that might be found in your tap water. It also removes lime scale from your water. For several years now, I have purchased distilled water to use in my coffee maker. It made the coffee taste better for one thing and it also helped my coffee maker to last longer due to no lime build up on the inside. Now, I can use the water that has been filtered in my pitcher. Even though, I have to purchase replacement filters every so often, the cost per gallon works out to be cheaper than buying the distilled water as we have been doing. So, in my case I will be saving money.
If you have hard water like we do, you know that when you boil water for cooking there is a lime residue left in your pan. I hate that! I spend extra time trying to get the scale out of my pans. Now, with the Brita, I can use water from the pitcher and not have to waste more water by cleaning the pan of scale left behind.
I am really happy with my new purchase and am grateful that I learned something from my daughter. The pitcher is easy to use, relatively inexpensive and I feel that it will pay for itself in a short period of time. Plus the water that we now consume will be healthier for our bodies.
How about you? Have you considered getting a pitcher that filters your water? Possibly, you already have one; if so, are you glad you purchased it?

I've used a Brita pitcher for years for the same reason you need one - lime deposits in coffee maker & pans, plus the drinking water tastes SO much better (and no doubt is better for me.). I used the same pitcher for about 20 years until recently the little indicator that told me when to change the filter quit working. Time to purchase a new pitcher, as I still have filters waiting to be used. :) I figure 20 years is really good millage on one pitcher! I totally agree with your recommendation, Bev.
ReplyDeleteOh that testimony of the 20 years is great to know! Thanks Miss Elf!
DeleteOh, I hadn't even realized it, but I bet that is what our daughter needs! She is always complaining about their yucky water and how much better ours is here. I am so glad you told me about this water filter pitcher. I'm going to ask her today if she would use it. If so, I'll send her one today. Thank you Bev!
ReplyDeleteHave always wondered about the Brita - thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great solution for those who are using hard tap water. We solved our problem with a reverse osmosis unit. Our well water was almost two hard to measure so we also had to get a water softener. But it's not good to drink soft water. Wish they had something that would filter my shower and dish water! My water is hard here, but the reverse osmosis unit makes any other filter unnecessary.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of the Brita, but will be sure to recommend it to anyone I know who seems in need of one.
We've had several over the years. Just like you said, they're ideal. I love the idea of keeping it in the fridge as well - versus something that attaches to the tap. My mom and brother have properties with wells and use a water treatment system - couldn't believe how amazing it worked!
