Author of Adorable Amigurumi
Erin Clark, a crochet crafter since age six, calls herself Voodoo Maggie online. She admits that her crochet crafting at such a young age first only consisted of the chain stitch. In fact, she once chained a whole skein of yarn! (Fellow crochet crafters will understand what this would look like – LOL).
Eventually she mastered scarves and afghans. These turned out fine for gifts, but soon it became boring to crochet only flat things. After looking around for something more challenging, Erin discovered the magical world of Amigurumi. The reason she gives for loving Amigurumi so much is because, to her, it's like 'sculpting' with yarn.
After mastering this craft, Erin began to create her own patterns in the style of Amigurumi crochet. The end result is Adorable Amigurumi ~ filled with patterns of delightful and unique crocheted critters from the imagination of Voodoo Maggie.

What great fun this would be! I love all the critters that you come up with too Pat. I think I'm getting lazy in my retirement, but I should be able to work something cute up while I can still work my fingers. Thanks for some much needed inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Olivia. I LOVE crocheting 'critters' - cute stuffed animals for kids.
DeleteOh, they are so adorable! I love the toucan. I took a look "inside the book" on Amazon and saw the awesome giraffes too. I totally overlooked the giraffe in the book cover image. You know I love giraffes. These cute amigurumi animals would make any crocheter want to grab their hooks and start crocheting immediately.
ReplyDeleteActually, Mouse, I did not know you liked giraffes. I've crocheted a few in my time, both big and little. :) I'll have to see if there is a 'Giraffe Day'. LOL.
DeleteNow I see where you get all of your cute ideas. This sounds like a wonderful book for a crafty person like you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Beth. I love looking through crochet pattern books, especially the Amigurumi style ones. They are all so cute. I just finished an cute Alien from one this week.
DeleteElf, my mental image of the author chaining an entire skein of yarn had me in stitches (so to speak)! These adorable amigurumi animals share the same wonderful sense of whimsy we have come to know and love in your own lovable crocheted critters. No doubt the step-by-step directions developed by a self-taught crocheter make the delightful world of creating amigurumi accessible for even novice needleworkers.
ReplyDeleteI loved the author's story, Margaret. And I can just picture the length of a chain made from a whole skein of yarn. Must have been miles long. LOL.
DeleteCUTE! All of my crochet is on pause because I am so busy with work and trying to get things done at home. I had crocheted a character from a fish game for my grandson. And a plush rabbit after that. I wanted to do more stuffed critters but just haven't had the time or mental energy. Thank you for this review.
ReplyDeleteYour crochet will wait for you to have time again, Dawn Rae. Life always gives us priorities to deal with. I've 'paused' sometimes for 'years' before getting back to my crochet. Retirement gave me the time... LOL.
DeleteThanks for the introduction to the Amigurumi Craft Book. This would make an excellent gift for crochet addicts. It's a fun gift to encourage hobbies outside of the internet as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree this craft book would make a great gift for a crochet crafter, Barbara.
DeleteAbsolutely adorable! I have yet to crochet, but looking at your adorable crochet animals and this book really ... make me want to !
ReplyDeleteCrochet is a fun hobby, Tracey. It's also a calming activity, so it's good for you. :)
DeleteThis Amigurumi Craft Book would be an amazing gift idea for a crafter! These crochet animals are adorable! I especially love the Toucan, very cute. Thank you for your review and recommendation.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit. Glad you enjoyed looking through this craft book. I think I shall have to try creating that Toucan. I made one once from a different style pattern. This one is cute too.
DeleteWhat a perfect gift for anybody that can crochet. And, perfect gifts for the finished product.
