Reviewing the Lifetime Folding Utility 4' Table

I cannot believe I am this excited about a folding commercial utility table purchase. But I am! The Lifetime table is extremely durable, adjustable to three different heights, and is a convenient length. And it has just made my life easier.

Lifetime 80160 Commercial Height Adjustable Folding Utility Table

This table top is made of an extremely durable high-density polyethylene. These table tops last for years without breaking or cracking. I know because our conference tables at work are made of the same material (and I've knocked one over while trying to put it away but didn't cause any damage).

The legs are adjustable, easily moving between children's table height, adult table height, and countertop height.

When set up, the legs are strong and lock into place. The feet of the table hold the table in place - even on carpet.

This 4' long table is the perfect size for my current needs. I am using it as a temporary desk.

During this sudden and expected work-from-home situation, I was struggling with working comfortably on my laptop for 8+ hours each day. When I write blogs, or browse the internet, I sit in a chair, on my bed, or on the floor. I get up frequently and move around. But that wasn't at all comfortable for work. I needed a desk or some suitable work space. But I have neither the room for that or the desire to buy that furniture.

This table is a very similar size to my desk at work. I can work on my laptop with everything I need nearby.  And when I'm finished working I merely fold the table up and move it out of the way. Perfect.

I spent only $55 on this solution - which is the same price as a decent folding card table but far more sturdy.

Other possible uses for this table include:

  • seating (adult or child) for family reunions
  • all-weather resistant so it is perfect for outdoor uses such as picnics and parties.
  • extra table, desk or countertop space for small living areas (such as dorms, small apartments, mother-in-law suites, etc)
  • the smooth top is perfecting for crafting, sewing, and large crochet projects - no rough edges for snagging things.
  • desk or table work space for children and their school work
  • perfect table for jigsaw puzzles
  • extension of counter or kitchen space for canning or other large projects
  • small buffet table or dessert table
  • workshops and garages

  1. I have one of these and they are so versatile. I originally brought it when a friend and I had a market stall, but it has since been a desk, a buffet table and I've also used it when doing presentations at gyms.

    1. I also thought if I ever manage to get around to have a market stall that it'd be perfect for that use. It's good to hear from someone who has used it in that capacity. Thank you.

  2. Oh Dawn, I'm so glad you found this table for your needs. We have two of these tables and I love the fact that they are easy to set up and easy to take down. We use ours for family dinners at Christmas and Easter when we go from 3 or 4 for dinner to 14-16 people. They work really great and like you said they are durable.

    1. Wow! I hope to have family holiday dinners at some point but I can't imagine 14-16 people. That's awesome! And good to know that this table will be perfect for that use.

  3. I have one of these tables myself. It comes in handy.

    1. From the comments I'm feeling very late to the party. :) It is very validating to know that so many people have these tables and use them. Thank you for commenting.

  4. I have had one like this for years, Dawn Rae, and don't know what I'd do without it. I got it when I was a vendor at a Farmers Market as it was easy to fold up, transport and set up again. Now I use it as a mailing center for my Etsy Store, holding scale, boxes, tape and everything I need.

    1. Ms. Elf, that is also a perfect use for this table... a mailing center. I love that idea. (And I love that your Etsy store is busy enough to need a mailing center. Awesome.)

  5. We have one but it doesn't have the adjustable height, darn, that would be handy. We use ours for many things - actually hubby uses it in the garage when he details the car or does other puttering. Very handy to have.

    1. The adjustable height is great. I've been able to sit in two different chairs because it is adjustable. It is so validating to know that you have a table also and that your husband uses it in the garage. It is as handy and durable as I thought. Thank you.

  6. I'm glad you found what you needed at a decent price. Working from home shouldn't be costly, especially when it is something imposed on us from outside forces. Being comfortable during an eight-hour shift matters. Thanks for sharing such a practical resource that most of us would find extremely useful. I was thinking this would be good for camping (or even for your use at The Shack).

    1. It is so heart-warming that you thought of The Shack when you read about this table. I am making a mental list of all of the ways I'll be able to put this table to good use up there. It will be perfect up there and I'm already thinking that I'll need another table or two.

  7. I think this is exactly what I need. I think I'll get it. You sold me.

    1. Please let me know if you get one and if you love it. Yesterday I had two laptops (one work, one personal) and a small crochet project as I sat in front of the balcony door working. (yes, I was probably crocheting more than working at some point). I still can't believe how much easier things are because of a table.

  8. That is an amazing price! I have one that is a different brand and cost twice (maybe three times) as much when I purchased it 20 years ago. I use mine when crafting. It allows me in lay everything out and leave it there until a project is complete. It makes the perfect buffet table too during the holidays. I just cover it with a table cloth so it looks festive and pretty. I absolutely love my folding table!

    1. Oh Ms. Mouse, as I've mentioned to some of the others, it is so validating that you have a table and put it to good use. And yes, the price was AMAZING. I was finding card table sets at double the price. Of course that included the chairs, but I had no use for those chairs.

  9. We also have two of a very similar table, but longer and without that handy adjustable height feature! I use one for crafting, and the other pinch-hits in various roles as needed, including as a buffet table during the holidays, if we're hosting, and always as a gift wrapping station when 'tis the season. Yours is a really great deal!
