Photographing Florida Wildlife
Florida has some wonderful birds and other wildlife that are very different from what I am used to seeing in the Midwest. When I am vacationing in Florida I enjoy photographing the wildlife. On this page I will review some of the photographs I took of Florida wildlife.
I love taking a walk down the pier at Jupiter Inlet and watch the Brown Pelican's which are very prevalent in that area. It is easy to get a photograph of the pelicans as they sit on the rocks near the pier. These beautiful creatures can also be seen diving for fish in the area. I wrote an article on brown pelicans and you will find more of my photos and information on the pelicans at Brown Pelican Photos.
Behind our condo was a park with a great walking trail along the edges. In the middle the ground was lower and when it rained it filled with water. One day after a rain, birds and ducks flocked to the area. I grabbed my camera and was able to capture the photos below. I think the white birds are Egrets but I don't know the names of the others. Again, if you can enlighten me please leave a comment.

We may be apart, but
You Are Not Forgotten
Cool photos, MBG! You must have been walking around my neighborhood. I love all the wildlife here in Florida and that I can walk out my back door and see all kinds of birds and lizards. The lizard in your photo is a Brown Anole, it was introduced from the Caribbean and there must be a thousand of the little critters running around my porch. The white bird with the long beak is an Ibis, they walk through my yard in herds all the time. Excuse me, I hear a woodpecker knocking, time to grab the camera!
ReplyDeleteColetta thanks for your help in identifying the Brown Anole and Ibis. It must be wonderful to be able to see these creatures year round.
DeleteYour photographs are always beautiful and I love the little lizard (which is the only name I know to call him). He looks like he was actually posing for the picture, but i know how fast those little guys can run so I am sure you had to be fast on the draw to get that shot. The photo of what I think is a grackle is also fabulous. Our family loves any black bird.
ReplyDeletevery nice photos!
ReplyDeleteI wrote a comment here very early this a.m., but it doesn't seem to have published. So, I'll say again, I love the brown Pelican photo and the blue, blue water behind him. Fantastic shot!
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs. All the times I've visited Florida though I've never seen a Geckos there. Sort if glad about that if you know what I mean. :)
ReplyDeleteWildlife absolutely fascinates me. I could sit all day and watch birds in our back yard. We have lizards, too, (or maybe they're geckos) that Daisy likes to chase. Love your gorgeous pictures! Pinning this to my "For the Birds" board.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved seeing all that wildlife up close. I've never seen a real Gecko here. You must have had a wonderful time on your trip.
