Review of a Wedding or Engagement Song

If you're looking for an Upbeat Wedding Song that conveys just the right message in words from him to her, then you'll want to check this one out...

This very catchy tune is by popular Canadian Country Music Artist Dallas Smith.

I'm a Dallas Smith fan, so introducing you to his latest hit song is my pleasure!

This wedding song is about his wanting to 'change your autograph.' Women's Lib aside for a minute, how sweet is that!

Of course, some of us don't change our autograph when we marry, and that's perfectly fine.

This song simply celebrates his attraction and love for her to the point that he wants to 'change her autograph, so everybody knows that he's the lucky one.'

Autograph is the prelude of emotion before he puts a ring on it: He sees her, and like the true passion that love can be, the song expresses how he wants to share his name with her.
Autograph by Dallas Smith
"I'd change your autograph
I'd put my name on you
And I'd put a big old ring on your left hand
so everybody knew
that I'm the lucky one
With heaven on my arm,
sun's going down
Edge of town
one knee on the ground
I'd change your autograph"

  1. What a neat turn of phrase! Funny how I have heard songs and comments about changing your name, but I don't believe I have ever heard anyone use the phrase "change your autograph". It is definitely a very catchy tune. And, thank you for introducing me to another new vocalist.

    1. That's what I thought as well Cynthia when I first heard it, what a great phrase. I hadn't heard getting married put that way before :)

  2. It is a catchy phrase as Mouse says, and a very upbeat tune. I know I enjoyed 'changing my autograph' many years ago. :)

I like Dallas Smith's style. You Canadians really have some good singers. :)

    1. Thanks Pat, love his music. Canadian radio has a content rule or protocol, or maybe it's just country radio, not sure, that a certain percentage has to be Canadian artists. And you're sure right, there are a lot of terrific Canadian country music artists here.

  4. Reminds me of when love-struck girls in junior high would practice writing their names with their boyfriend's (or their favorite rock star's) last name. After 35 years of marriage I still look at our wedding rings and feel happy that my sweetie changed my autograph. Great song!

  6. Susan said exactly what I was thinking. I changed my autograph way back when. I love the affection that comes through in this song. A perfect song for an intimate, country wedding.
