Easy Grip Jar Opener

EZ Grip Jar Opener

This simple little gadget has saved me so much time and aggravation, that I just had to share it with our readers.

My Issues with Opening Jars and Cans

Over the last few years, I have been struggling to open jars, cans and bottles.  I used to just bring them to my husband to open, but he had hand surgery in January and has yet to regain the strength in his hands.  As we age, I think a lot of people struggle with opening jars and bottles.

I had tried a lot of different devices advertised to easily open jars but none seemed to work all the time.  A few months ago, I had a jar of spaghetti sauce and no matter what I tried I couldn't open it.  Finally, I gave up and went next door to have my neighbor open it. That incident sent me to my computer to research another method to use for opening jars and bottles.   What I found seemed too good to be true.  It was an undercounter opener that you see pictured above.
Here is the Amazon link to the opener.

Installing the EZ Opener

When the opener arrived, I thought for sure I would need to get some help to install it.  I took it out of the packaging and decided to first try for myself.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install.  Even with my weak hands, I was able to easily screw it in under the counter and tighten it sufficiently. Now to put it to the test.  I got a bottle of sparkling water that always give me fits to open and stuck it under the opener.  With only a slight twist the bottle popped open.  Since that time, I have used it for all sizes of bottles and jars.  It has saved me so much time and frustration.

If you ever have trouble opening a bottle or jar, I suggest you get one of these handy gadgets.  You will be glad you did.

  1. This definitely would be an enormous help in my kitchen. I have lost considerable strength in my hands in the past few years and there are a number of items I cannot open without help. Thanks so much for your timely review, Mary Beth.

  2. I definitely need the easy grip under the cabinet jar opener! I currently use one of the rubber pad jar openers that I store in a kitchen drawer. It would be so nice to to have it handy and mounted under a cabinet. I am very encouraged by the fact that you were able to install it yourself.

  3. This is definitely something I could use in my kitchen, since I have lost a lot of my grip strength in recent years. Our countertops don’t have enough overhang to accommodate this handy opener, but I might be able to install it under one of our overhead cabinets.

  5. Oh I love that it is fastened somewhere. All my gadgets that I used for opening jars were stored in a drawer and finding it in that drawer wasn't always easy. This stays put where you place it! I love it! Thanks Mary Beth!

  6. That's a very cool gadget - my mom had a terrible time opening jars - sometimes it just didn't happen and she'd have to wait for my brother to show up - the device she had (wasn't this one) often times didn't work - This one might have been a gawd-send for her.

  7. Soooo, yesterday I was trying to open a jar using my rubber pad jar opener. No one else was home to help. I realized that I still needed adequate strength in my right hand to hold the jar while using my left hand to try to get the top off. I didn't have the needed strength! I immediately thought of your review, sought it out again so I could purchase my own Easy Grip Jar Opener. While there, I noted that they had a discount if I bought two, so I bought one for my mom for Mother's Day too. I am sure we will both be very happy to have this much needed aid in the kitchen.
