Seeing your Home Town- Don't Forget the Camera

When you are out and about the town this summer be sure to remember to take your camera.  We always seem to take our camera on vacation but often we forget about taking photos when it comes to activities in our own town.

I am from the St. Louis Missouri area and when my grandchildren visit from Atlanta, Georgia I try to take them around and show them the sites.  I have taught them to take photos of the places they see and they love to look for photo opportunities.
Here are some photos of a recent trip to The Butterfly House.
The first was taken by Rachel who is 10.

Ella who is 8 also loves to take photos.  Here is one she took outside The Butterfly House

Taking photos of their home town and sharing them online is a popular activity.  Here are some
home town area articles.

Here is another photo from my hometown.  It was taken at the St. Louis Zoo.

Wherever you live I hope you will share your photos from your area in your writing.

  1. It is true, I find my own hometown to be my greatest inspiration and source of my favorite photos. Thank you so much for including my Botanical Gardens lens. Those photos are very special to me and give everyone a real glimpse of my heart.

You photos are always gorgeous Mary Beth! How very precious that you are teaching and encouraging your grandchildren to take a close look at their surroundings and capture them with a camera. (I almost said on film. I guess we no longer us film :)

  2. The one thing I love about going for walks where I live is that I always have my iPhone on me to snap pictures when I see something that interests me or might interest one my readers. Love the butterfly pictures and the parrot.

  3. Being near enough to visit St. Louis often, I have enjoyed the Butterfly House and the Zoo! Must remember the camera, too.

  4. Mary Beth, I have a few 'snaps' of the St. Louis Zoo and of Busch Gardens taken while I (briefly) lived in St. Louis. Also some taken at Busch Stadium during a recent St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. Nice memories, although mine aren't as gorgeous as yours are. :-) I agree that pictures of your home town are the best and fun to share with family members who live elsewhere, and friends who have not seen your town. I've visited Flagstaff already through Ramkitten's wonderful Squidoo lens. And have seen your view of St. Louis several times. Now off to visit the others you have shared here.

  5. Your granddaughters took some great pictures at the Butterfly House! As you well know, I love chasing butterflies. And yes, snapping up photos in our everyday surroundings is great for memories and sharing with others.
