I can not wait for Halloween to be over, too, as Thanksgiving is my favorite of all the holidays. You are right, a road trip with already prepared food in tow is often a quandary, but yes, I think your yams recipe will make the trip just fine in a slow cooker. I'll have to try that pepper sauce. I've never thought of spicing up my yams this way and it does sound good! But of course, your pumpkin Snickerdoodles would be my favorite. I love pumpkin! And I love the simplicity of a recipe.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin too. I was thrilled to find those snickerdoodles!
DeleteWe don't travel for the holidays at this point, but we certainly did years ago. My mother would work for days at home cooking the turkey and dressing, homemade candy and all kinds of delicious food. We would all load into the cars along with the ton of food and head off down the highway to my grandmothers home. When we arrived, it was obvious my grandmother had spent days cooking as well. These two wonderful mothers tried to take everyone's preferences into account and prepare something for everyone. Oh, so much food and great memories of my mom and grandmother working together to make a fabulous holiday for everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful memories! I can't even imagine that amount of food. I think I would burst!
DeleteIt's always fun to get new recipe suggestions, especially when you are invited out to Thanksgiving dinner and need (and want) to bring a dish. Now I have several to choose from for my less than 2 mile trip down the street to my brother's house for Thanksgiving! LOL.
ReplyDeleteTwo mile trip! Oh I'm jealous. I daydream that at some point my sons and I (and their families) will love within a couple of miles of each other. Of course..I'll need to learn to cook better or they'll need to be able to cook well. Haha.
DeleteOops, typo. I meant live within a couple of miles of each other. But love works too. :)
DeleteWe don't travel for the holidays anymore (at the moment, that could change down the road for sure) but I the mashed yam recipe is something I would love to try. This time of year is my fave to cook with Yams.
ReplyDeleteI really love yams. A lot. I don't like peeling and cutting them, but I'd love to have them with a meal several times a week.
DeleteSnickerdoodle anything has to be good!
