Couch Cushion Seat & Back Cover Protectors Look Great - 5 Star Review

Couch Cover Protectors

Recently, I've had to protect the light-colored furniture in our newly created TV room upstairs.

We have family staying for a while, and the beige sofa and chairs need a little extra protection. As most of you know, my mom recently passed away; this furniture is from her living room. Needless to say, I'm a bit overprotective of it.

There Are Many Couch Protectors and Slipcovers Styles, So Why Did I Choose These? (Scroll Down to View the Photos)

  • My mom's couch and chairs have skirts on the bottom, so purchasing the ones that slip over the entire couch would not work. These particular slipcovers have elastic that grabs at the bottom and that would crinkle up the skirts.
  • If you look closely at the photos of the full slipcovers provided by verified purchasers, I found the crinkled look sloppy.
  • A few people complained of slipcovers coming off, especially with pets and people just sitting on the couch.
The Couch Seat Covers I Selected are Not Water Resistant
  • I debated purchasing a water-resistant cover, but after researching, some comments said they made a bit of noise when you sat on them. No thanks.
  • Since I wasn't purchasing the protectors for pets, I chose the comfy-cozy ones I selected below.
Why I Approve of These Seat Covers:
  • They're soft
  • They slip on easily
  • They stay on perfectly when you sit on them
  • They fit the back cushions on the sofa as well
  • They're elegant-looking
  • They do come in many colors
  • They're machine washable (I haven't had to wash them yet)
  • The price was acceptable
  • It solved the problem of protecting the couch
What You Should Be Aware of With These Couch Cushion Covers:
  • They come in packs of  2 or 3
  • They come in three size choices
  • They come in many colors
  • Measure your sofa seat length, width, and height first
  • They are relatively thin, so if you need them to provide a liquid barrier, these aren't the ones to choose
Here Are Some Photos of the Cushion Covers (Notice I Was Able to Place Them on the Back Cushions as well):

I've since added these matching arm covers and pillow covers as well.

Note: The chairs are not covered in these photos.
They have since been covered with the same product.

Here's a fun side note: When I backpacked through Europe in 1978, I picked up those three photos on the back wall from the streets of Paris - they were in my mom's upstairs hallway from 1978 to 2021, now they're in my home. The needlepoint deer was made by my grandmother (my mom's mom, and when mom passed, it came to me) - The furniture is also my mom's, so we affectionately refer to this little tv room as "The History Room." There's a cabinet with more photo memories and a tv on the other wall.

★★★★★ - 5 Stars from me. Purchaser approved.

When is National Umbrella Month?

Celebrate National Umbrella Month!

When is National Umbrella Month? Learn more here.

WHEN IS NATIONAL UMBRELLA MONTH?

March is National Umbrella Month. In my part of the world, you could not pick a better month to celebrate this very important invention. Ontario is not necessarily the rainiest part of Canada but we do receive plenty of rain in the springtime, which is not a bad thing for, as you know, rain showers bring spring flowers.

Umbrellas have a number of job duties that are not limited to protecting us from the rain though that is what they are most commonly associated with. People also use umbrellas as fashion accessories, for photography and to block out the strong rays of the sun.

National Umbrella Month is the time to celebrate one of the most useful yet underrated inventions so before we plan our celebration, let's take this striking striking blue umbrella for a walk in the rain with us now. It is Amazon's top rated sky-themed umbrella and is available by clicking right here.

Beautiful blue skies will shine when you open this umbrella!

WAYS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL UMBRELLA MONTH

  • Celebrate umbrella month with a new umbrella. Find one that will be sure to make you smile on a rainy day!
  • Celebrate by donating a new umbrella to a homeless shelter. It will help shelter someone else from the rain.
  • Celebrate umbrella month by promoting your business with one. Instead of using pens this year to promote your business, use umbrellas with your company business information and logo on them. You'll really stand out in a crowd!
  • Celebrate by hanging a decorative umbrella on your patio or by adding one to your patio table. Pick a colour or a pattern that you really love!
  • Celebrate umbrella month by donating all of your used ones to goodwill. If you are not using them and they are in good working condition, you can bet that someone else will.
  • Celebrate by donating ten new umbrellas to the Red Cross. Once again, you will help brighten someone's rainy days.
  • Celebrate umbrella month by reading an umbrella-themed storybook. Yes, there are beautiful children's books devoted to the wonderful umbrella.
Can you think of other ways to celebrate National Umbrella Month?

Totes Clear Bubble Umbrella

Get a little clarity in your life with a Totes clear bubble umbrella. You'll stay dry and be able to see the way forward at the same time.

During the spring of 2020 when the world was under lock down because of the pandemic, my husband and I have tried to take two walks every day. These walks do not quite replace our regular and beloved visits to our gyms but they are definitely better than doing nothing. Plus not only do they give us much needed exercise, they also make us feel better mentally.

Did you know that walking has been proven to improve your mood? We know this as a fact from our firsthand experience walking. We also know that we need to take advantage of whatever it is that helps us keep on smiling during these tough days. For us, our walks work wonders.

Anyway, because we are walking come rain or come shine and because it is spring in Canada, we frequently wear raincoats and carry umbrellas. We are lucky enough to have a couple of really big umbrellas that are very good at protecting us from the elements. However, they are not clear, which means that on a gusty day we are walking blind trying to peer around the outer edges of our umbrellas. It is a constant effort to make sure that no one is coming at us from the other direction!

Yesterday, I revisited some pages that I wrote previously about umbrellas and was reminded of the wonderful Totes Classic Clear Umbrella. When I originally wrote about it in 2009, it was the best-ranked Totes umbrella on Amazon.  I cannot image that fact has changed much but I do see that it is still readily available for both adults and children in the clear version but that it is also made in a variety of different colors that are opaque and still easy to see through.

The bubble style of this umbrella provides extra protection from the rain because of its rounded shape and of course, because of its size. It has an a large canopy when opened and plenty of headroom. Because it is clear, it will not block your sight, which makes walking in the rain a little bit safer and the unique shape also keeps your husband's or in our case, your wife's umbrella out of your face! "Brilliant," says my husband.

The next time I need a new umbrella that is generously sized, I will buy the Totes Classic Clear Umbrella so that I can see the way forward. If you would also like a little clarity in your life, you can find this Totes umbrella right here on Amazon.

Wednesday February 10th Umbrella Day!

For all of you who like to follow the Weird and Wacky feasts and holidays of the year, you might already know that today Feb. 10th is Umbrella Day!   Now you are probably wondering why in heaven's name anyone would get excited about that.  I'm here to fill you in.

Umbrellas in the past were used to keep the sun off of the Gentries' skin.  Pale faces, light completions, were something that was desirable. Hence, if a lady did have to go out during the sunny parts of the day, her umbrella or parasol was a much needed accessory.  We've all seen the pictures of the ladies of old, in their finery strolling down the lane with a parasol firmly held on high to keep the suns rays off of their heads.  Gloves were also mandatory so the hands would not show signs of sun either, and the dresses were long, so no worries there. You can see for yourself in this painting of John Singer Sargent, just how covered up the ladies of yore were!

Moving into the modern era,  our tastes for what is beautiful has certainly changed and sun kissed skin, lots of skin became the way to look and to feel beautiful.  We went from one extreme to the other in a short 100 years.

From being totally covered up in the 1880's, to being almost totally uncovered in the 1990's and now to our current time in the 2016's and beyond, we are finding out that uncovering our bodies, so that the sun can "kiss" our skin, was not the brightest of ideas.

New research and just the plain facts coming out of the medical community, points out how much damage the sun can actually do to our skin.  Not only does it cause premature aging in our skin, but the rising occurances of skin cancers of all kinds, is just a little disturbing.

But, and here's the real good news, umbrellas are making a beautiful comeback and when I say beautiful I mean BEAUTIFUL!

Gone are the days when umbrellas were strictly used to keep us dry on rainy days.  Their utilitarian use was important (especially for those ladies with hair that curls like crazy on those damp days), to keep us dry in the most sever downpours, while going about our regular business.  But more and more people are opting to use umbrellas to keep the sun off of their skin (again).  Maybe the ladies of old, were onto something.

Today, umbrellas are beautiful to the eye and come in such a variety of colors and shapes.  They are again a fashion accessory that should be used often.  Just take a look at a couple of these beauties and see if you don't agree with me that they are fantastic to look at and even nicer to use, than those dreary plain black or navy ones that leave nothing to the imagination.  Plus many of them fold down to almost nothing, so slipping one into your purse is quite easy to do.  No need to be unprepared!

If you like the new inverted umbrellas, then this link is for you!  There are so many choices that you just might want to get two!

These are just two of the beauties that I'm telling you about!  I certainly wouldn't mind keeping my skin free of exposure to the sun's rays under one of these.  How about you?  Are you willing to take the risk of getting too much sun on your skin and afterwards having problems that need surgery to fix the damage, or would you rather spend sometime under the protection of an umbrella?

They can and still do double duty, because, if it should start to rain, you are protected there too!

Happy Umbrella Day to all!
