Homemade Bread Day Holiday Review

Homemade Bread Day is celebrated yearly on November 17.

Origin of Homemade Bread Day

It appears that this delicious day was begun by the National Homemade Bread committee based in Ann Arbor, MI. It has been observed annually since the 1980s and was founded as a way of bringing families together to bake. Sounds good to me, as I absolutely LOVE any kind of bread product ~ and homemade is the best.

Many of the contributors here on Review This! agree that bread is a delicious delight and have reviewed their favorites. Check out a wide variety of bread products and recipes in this article.

Thought for the Day: Bread is a lot like the Sun. It rises in the Yeast and sets in the Waist.

  1. My husband loves homemade fresh bread! I bake it pretty often for him. Actually, in the last week, I have baked 2 loaves of the artisan bread recipe that Dawn introduced me to a few years back and several loaves of banana bread. btw, the knife that Dawn recommended that you linked above is by far the best bread knife I have ever owned and I have been baking homemade bread for decades. When I daughter was a child, I baked several loaves of sour dough bread every week because she loved it so much. Yes, homemade bread days should definitely be celebrated! Let's get baking :)

    1. I agree, Mouse. Homemade bread is the best. When I don't have time to bake my own, I get fresh bakery bread. And I agree with your daughter; sourdough bread is fantastic!

    2. After she moved to a different state for a job, I let my sour dough starter die. To this day, I am very sorry that I didn't keep it feed. I have not been able to recreate that original starter.

  2. My hubby has taken to making bread almost daily! It makes staying on Keto almost impossible! But it is so good! Back to baking with almond flour for me!

  3. I remember when I was in high school home ec class and learned to make yeast bread. My Dad thought that was wonderful and always wanted me to make some. Now I mostly make quick breads like my banana bread recipe that you shared in this review. Thank you.

  4. There’s nothing like homemade bread to warm the heart (and stomach) of a carb lover! I’m so grateful to be able to bake satisfying low carb breads. I could never have stuck with a low carb approach to eating without delicious low carb breads. Thank you so much for sharing my reviews of the Wholesome Yum keto bread mix and yeast bread preparation option and my own keto cheddar corn dog muffins recipe, Elf!
