Healthy and Delicious Smoothies

Last week I shared my excitement about my new NutriBullet Pro 900 series with you.  I have enjoyed green smoothies for some time now but settled with using an inexpensive blender for far too long. Now that I have a NutriBullet juice extractor, smoothies have become even more important to me and even easier to make on a daily basis.

Why Smoothies Have Become Important to Me

Some time ago I began trying to eat healthier foods and cut things from my diet such as soda.  I find that as the years pass, my health is harder to maintain and my weight continues to increase.  I also began making smoothies because store-bought juices are typically too sweet.  I like water with a splash of orange juice or cranberry juice. So it was an easy jump to the Smoothies.  Finally, when I drink smoothies regularly, I feel noticeably better.

Green smoothies are my favorite. Especially green smoothies using the following ingredients:
Spinach, orange juice, blueberries, banana, water/ice, and a few leaves of fresh mint from my balcony garden.

My plan is to try many different smoothies.  I now have a recipe book to browse and an app to download. And a NutriBullet Pro that pulverizes ingredients. For more information about my new NutriBullet, take a peek at my review

Tempting Smoothie Recipe Suggestions From a Few Friends

Cynthia Sylverstermouse shares her Tropical Fruit Smoothie with us. If you are a fan of mango, strawberry, and papaya you must take a peek at this recipe. She also suggests we take a look at the Ultimate Smoothie Book for more delicious smoothie recipes.

Recipes for Real People is a great place for people like me to find easy and delicious recipes.  This includes a mouth-watering but ridiculously simple Spring Ahead Cherry Smoothie

I love peanut butter, and know that it is considered to be very nutritious, but I have never considered having it in a smoothie with berries. Also on Recipes for Real People you can find the recipe for Peanut Butter Triple Berry Smoothie.

And if your mouth isn't watering yet, this compilation of Chocolate Smoothie recipes by BuckHawk is sure to cause you to crave chocolate. AND rush right out to purchase a smoothie maker if you do not already own one. I think an Almond Joy Smoothie for dessert sounds like a wonderful thing!  But if almonds, coconut, and chocolate isn't your thing, there are several other chocolate smoothies to choose from.

  1. I'm going to sneak some kale and maybe even some mint (both from my garden) into my next smoothie. As delicious as the fruit smoothies sound, I'll admit that the Almond Joy Smoothie recipes just grabbed me by my sweet tooth and won't let go! Thanks for the resources and for featuring my recipe blog, too!

    1. I've tried Kale in mine. It's good. Just a little more "green" tasting than spinach. And you are very welcome. Thank you for sharing such good recipes!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing some new smoothie recipes with me, us! You continue to tempt me with the Nutribullet. I still use my blender for smoothies. Because I use the blender, smoothies are more of a treat instead of a staple in my diet. I would really like to change that myself. I do love them, but so often I opt for something easier with less clean up.

I also appreciate you including my Tropical Fruit Smoothie recipe in your article.

  3. I have to admit that I don't really love green smoothies, but I do love ice cream ones, and the chocolate ones sound amazing. Maybe one of these days I'll convince myself to make healthy ones. LOL

  4. I missed that recipe for the Almond Joy Smoothie, but I think I'll have to look it up. I keep forgetting smoothies exist. Maybe it's time for me to go back to them again during this hot weather.

  5. Total Yum. Smoothies are a big part of our family. We have a Vitamix and make them practically every day. The boys each make their own based on what they want in it, but my fave is a Beet Smoothie (tastes Better than it sounds) - 1 Fresh Beet, 1 Cup of Frozen Strawberries (or fresh, add ice), 1 Cup of Frozen Mango, 1 Apple, 1 Carrot, and some spinach - it has an earthy taste of course, but...total yum if that's your thing.

  6. My favorite smoothie is banana, raspberry, spinach and green yogurt - delicious! I keep packets in the freezer with spinach, raspberry and banana in them and use them if we have no fresh at home - when all of the ingredients are frozen I have to add some milk as well or it turns into a soft ice cream instead of a drink!
