Make Homemade Easter Candy-Reviewed |
We make a day of it yearly by making Easter candy with our grandchildren. Making your own chocolate candy for any Holiday is fun, and the kids have a great time being creative with decorating the candy.
The photo above shows some of our daughter's and the kids' creative work last year. I take no credit for the decorating, as none of it was done by me. My only job is to melt the chocolate and take some pictures.
We use a double boiler to melt the chocolate on the stove. You can also melt the chocolate in the microwave using a microwave-safe bowl.
After the chocolate is melted we just spoon it into the various plastic molds and then set the mold in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. After the chocolate is solid you are ready to decorate with the different colors of melted chocolate.
In the photo above, Bobby is filling a mold with chocolate and adding sticks. Tyler is preparing to decorate with different colors of chocolate using toothpicks and brushes.
I had no idea that there were candy molds and colored chocolate melts for making your own candy. What a fun and clever activity for Easter, especially with children and grandchildren. Thanks, Sam.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!!! I love the idea of making your own chocolate treats for Easter. What a wonderful family activity! I have dozens of candy molds but I haven't used them in years. (not since my own children were in school and I made school treats) I should get them out, grab my husband, and make Easter bunnies. Chocolate Easter bunnies are his favorite Easter candies. And, yes. I also used the Wilton brand chocolate. Your daughter and grandsons are awesome candy makers!
ReplyDeleteMy sister did this for many years with her son and nieces and nephews. The kids had a blast filling the candy molds and adding details. A wonderful, fun, easy and delicious Easter activity!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great tradition. Have fun with your grandchildren
ReplyDeleteSam, yes to this!! YUM - What a great idea for the whole family! I know this is chocolate, but looking at your melted chocolate has me craving caramel (my fave!) - what a great thing to make and add to an Easter basket.
ReplyDeleteI did this for many years with my children and it was a lot of fun. I guess I should try to do it again with the grandchildren, but my time is otherwise already spoken for. Thanks for bringing back some memories for me!
