Did You Hear About the Morgans? - Comedy Movie Review

Did You Hear About The Morgans?
I discovered this movie when seeking an easy movie to watch that would make me laugh. This movie definitely fit that bill!

I've read mixed reviews on "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" which I really don't understand.  This is not meant to be an epic movie, rather it is light entertainment.  While neither of the main actors are on my list of favorites, I must say, this movie made me like both of them better.  Together, they really made me laugh.

Admittedly, having a cameo appearance of a stunning grizzly bear, did help.  Hugh Grant's reaction and facial expressions during his bear encounter truly made me laugh out loud.

This is a movie to watch when you simply want to sit back and enjoy a show that doesn't require a great deal of emotional involvement, other than humor.

Did You Hear About the Morgans? Movie Synopsis

"Did You Hear About the Morgans?" is a just for fun movie starring Sarah Jessica Parker (Meryl Morgan) and Hugh Grant (Paul Morgan).

Did You Hear About the Morgans? DVDCheck PriceThe Morgan's live in New York and are both successful in business.  Meryl owns a real estate company and Paul is an attorney.  In spite of their professional success, there are problems in their marriage.  Due to Paul's infidelity, the Morgans are separated.  Of course, adultery is not funny, but in this movie their separation does provide the set-up for some rather humorous situations.

Meryl agrees to have dinner with Paul and afterwards they decide to walk to her next appointment together.  Upon arrival, they witness the murder of her client.  They see the murderer and he sees them!

When it is clear, the murderer plans to eliminate the witnesses, Meryl & Paul are placed in the witness protection program "together" as a married couple and sent to a very remote area in Ray, Wyoming.  They are placed under the protection of two federal agents who happen to be married.

Clay (Sam Elliott)  and Emma Wheeler (Mary Steenburgen) have provided shelter and protection for many witnesses in the past. They have a bedroom set up just for their "guests" and have restricted access to phones and computers, which keeps their guests from contacting friends or family.  Meryl still manages to make a phone call back home, which brings the killer right to their temporary door step.

I highly recommend "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" for a anyone seeking to relax, laugh and enjoy the show!

  1. Sounds like a fun comedy and one with an interesting twist. Can't imagine how different the big city Morgans from New York City would find a restricted life in witness protection in rural Wyoming.

  2. Oh I'm always looking for something that will tickle my funny bone and this sounds like it would do just that and do it well. I have not heard of this movie before your review, so thank you for that! Next date night with my sweetie this will be on the bill.

  3. This sounds like something Ray and I would enjoy. Sometimes we're just looking for a relaxing comedy. Thanks for the review.

  4. This is one we haven't seen but is now on our list to watch. I like both Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker. And, any movie with Sam Elliot is certainly worth watching for me. Thanks for the review. sometimes you just need to laugh.

  5. While I’m not crazy about how some of the actors have comported themselves in their personal lives, I do enjoy their performances. This sounds like a great cast for this type of comedic film, and the movie sounds like just the ticket to escape for a couple of hours with some lighthearted entertainment. Over the years, I have been giving less and less weight to the opinions of professional film critics, whose tastes and evaluation criteria frequently are very different from mine. Not every movie has to have Deep Significance in order to be enjoyed and appreciated for the entertainment it is! Thanks so much for this timely recommendation.

  6. Lol, I've seen this movie a few times and thorough enjoyed it. It's light and fun as you mentioned, and an excellent choice when you need to just take it easy and unwind in something entertaining. I'm also a huge fan of Hugh Grant, so any movie of his will pique my interest.

  7. I think there is often a place for a movie that is simply entertainment and fun especially these days! This sounds like just the thing for a Saturday evening in winter when you need some light and fun to relax. I have not seen this yet so Thank you for this review!
