The Best Affordable Gel Ice Globes for Skincare and Muscle Relaxation

Today I am reviewing the newest tool in my skincare and body care arsenal, an affordable set of two 360° rotating, thermal gel-filled, stainless steel ice rollers that can be used not only chilled for facial tightening, lymphatic drainage and depuffing, but also either cold or warm for easing sore muscles after a workout, strain, or injury.

I have been lucky enough to find an extremely knowledgeable and experienced licensed esthetician and spa & salon owner whose product recommendations have transformed my skin remarkably over the past four or five years (even though we have never met in person). I trust her recommendations wholeheartedly and she has never steered me wrong. She also doesn't believe in recommending anything that doesn't have clinically proven results. So, when she shares a skincare recommendation, I'm all ears.

One of the tools she recommends is a set of gel-filled stainless steel ice globes that can be chilled and used on the face for a lifting and tightening effect and lymphatic drainage massage to depuff the face, especially the undereye area. The ones she sells rotate 360° so they glide over the skin without dragging against it and are filled with a gel that helps maintain the cold temperature for a long time. There is no question they are a high-quality product. Unfortunately, at $225 at the time of this post's publication, they are also way out of my budget.

I decided to research less expensive alternatives with similar features and was able to find a set of two 360° rotating, thermal gel-filled, stainless steel ice rollers — with two added benefits over the more expensive set — for less than $25 (at the time of this post's publication). I have been extremely pleased with them!

If you desire a more penetrating cold, for example, to calm inflamed muscles, you may chill them in the freezer inside their storage case, but I wouldn't use them frozen on the face.

My Experience With the DRMTLGY Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

After using this mask once a week for a few months, I’ve noticed significant improvements in both the texture and appearance of my skin.

Here’s what stood out:

Texture & Consistency

The mask has a soft, creamy texture that feels luxurious and comfortable on the skin. Unlike many exfoliating masks that can feel gritty or abrasive, this one is smooth, making the application process enjoyable and relaxing.

Warming Sensation

Upon application, the mask has a self-warming effect, which I found to be incredibly relaxing. How to Use This Enzyme Mask

After cleansing, apply a generous, even layer of the mask to clean, dry skin. You can apply it to just your face or to your face, neck, and décolletage.
Massage slowly and gently (don't scrub!), enjoying the warming sensation until it dissipates.
Leave the mask on for about 10 minutes.
Wet your hands and massage again, slowly and gently.
Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

After rinsing and patting dry with a clean face towel, my skin feels smoother, more refined, and better able to absorb the rest of the products in my skincare routine.

How Often to Use

You can use this exfoliating enzyme mask 1–3x/week. Since I also use other exfoliating products a couple of times a week, I use this mask only once a week.

I recently did an at-home Jessner's chemical peel (the first in what will be a monthly series over 6–8 months. I used this DRMTLGY Pumpkin Enzyme Mask a week after I applied the chemical peeling solution to help remove the last small remnants of the flaking and peeling skin after most was gone. Here's how my 70-year-old skin looked immediately after using the DRMTLGY Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and applying my routine skincare (except my tinted mineral sunscreen, which I applied after taking the photo) on the seventh day after my Jessner's peel.

Note: The even tone and smooth texture are a function of both the peel and the enzyme mask as well as my consistent commitment to an effective daily skincare routine tailored to my skin goals and concerns.

Step 2: Squeeze the contents of the Spaoxy Gel Base packet into the mixing cup that comes with the kit. Pour the contents of the packet of Spaoxy Gel Powder over the gel and stir to mix thoroughly with the spatula provided until white and frothy. This creates the gel mask.

Step 3: Spread the mixture in a thick, even layer over your face (including the neck and chest, if desired). You can also apply the gel carefully to your lips, eyelids and undereye area, if desired, but avoid getting the gel in your eyes.

Step 4: Leave the mask on for 15–30 minutes. (I always leave mine on for 30 minutes.) You’ll notice small bubbles forming as part of the oxygenation process. These bubbles are crucial in delivering oxygen to your skin.

Step 5: Use the spatula to gently remove most of the gel mask, then use a warm, wet wash cloth to remove any residue and rinse well with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry and apply your normal skincare routine.

The results are far more obvious in person (even my husband noticed the improvements to my skin!), but even in the photos you can see a noticeable difference.

Our skin is the body's largest organ and the one most exposed to environmental stressors. It's no wonder it's one of the first places to show the signs of aging as we get older. I have used both physical and chemical facial exfoliation products at a wide range of prices. How Well Do They Work?

Since I started using them consistently report that with consistent use, their skin feels smoother, looks brighter, and has a more refined texture. Usage Tips

If your skin barrier is healthy and your skin tolerates AHAs and BHAs well, you can use these as often as twice daily, depending on your skin type and needs.

However, if your skin is extremely sensitive or you have rosacea, these peel pads may be a bit too intense for you. I recommend trying one package and starting slowly, maybe once a week, to see how your skin tolerates it. If that works for you, you can slowly increase the frequency, as tolerated.

After cleansing your face and patting it dry, remove one DRMTLY TINGL exfoliating pad from the jar and immediately close the jar tightly to prevent the remaining pads from drying out.

Wipe the peel pad over your face in circular motions. Avoiding contact with the eye area and the lips.

Do not scrub! Scrubbing can damage your skin barrier and irritate your skin. If used properly, the pads will provide a gradual, safe exfoliation with consistent, regular use.

IMPORTANT: When using these pads in the morning, after exfoliating your skin and applying the rest of your skincare, ALWAYS USE A BROAD-SPECTRUM SUNSCREEN with an SPF of 30 or higher, regardless of the weather! Exfoliating acids increase sensitivity to the sun's rays.
