The items that sold are as varied as the stock is in my eBay store, Treasures By Brenda. However, this weekend the sales included just a few gently used and vintage items and none of my new stock although I do have many new items in store. I have actually heard it said that about 80 percent of the items on eBay are new though I think the platform is best when it helps unite buyers with items that are no longer produced and therefore hard-to-find. I have had the pleasure of reuniting many buyers with beloved items that they had as children or even as adults.
I would like to start by sharing my favorite item but I find myself hard pressed to pick just one so here then are the four fun items that sold arranged in no particular order:
HANDMADE BABY OR LAP QUILT
VINTAGE ORIENTAL DIPPING BOWLS
I am not actually sure what these tiny bowls are for. If you know, I’d love to hear. At two inches, they are too small, I think, to be used for dipping though I have called them dipping bowls. Have you any thoughts on what their original purpose might have been? If you are interested, you can discover some similar oriental dipping bowls on eBay by clicking right here.
MOUSETRAP CHEESE BOARD
TREMAR CORNISH CHIMNEY SWEEP FIGURINE
Finally, I sold was a little vintage Cornish art pottery chimney sweep or cleaner by Tremar. The company Tremar was located in and named after a village in eastern Cornwall that started producing pottery in the early 1960s. They made pieces that were popular with tourists and that included items like animals, people, vehicles and buildings. Some 'sets' were created to encourage buyers to collect multiple pieces, a technique we know today but was used less often in the middle of the century. The Tremar pottery company closed its doors in the 1980s. You can see all of the Tremar Pottery pieces on eBay by clicking here.
While these items are no longer available in my store, I do have a large stock of interesting and unusual items in my shop. Do drop in! You can visit my store, Treasures By Brenda, on eBay by clicking here!
Brenda, you always have such unusual and interesting items in your eBay store. My first job out of college was as an assistant buyer for a retail store chain and I can definitely appreciate your excellent eye for choosing products your target audience will love. Congratulations on your sales and your successful eBay store!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret. That retail job sounds like it must have been interesting.
DeleteBrenda, congratulations on your recent sales on eBay. I've followed your store for some time and always enjoy seeing the interesting items you find. I never heard of a mousetrap cheese board - how clever. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elf. The mousetrap cheese board was definitely an unusual find.
DeleteI just took a look at your store. You sure have an eclectic group of items. Very interesting. Best of luck on your sales.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Beth!
DeleteI love shopping at Ebay! I've found out of print books that I never would have been able to find otherwise, as well as old vinyl records. Of course, I also occasionally buy "hard to find" currently sought after items that children want for Christmas. I think it was a lot of fun to look at the unique items you recently sold. Clearly, everyday is Christmas at Treasures by Brenda on Ebay.
ReplyDeleteMy family gathered around my laptop this afternoon to look at those little cups in your picture. Our son said they look like Eastern tea cups to him!
Thanks for the input about the little bowls. They seemed almost too small to be for oriental tea but maybe they weren't!
DeleteOh I lke all the items that you have sold lately. The small bowls could be for warm Saki. When my son and his wife take us out for Sushi, we always have some little ceramic bowls and they fill them up with Saki which is drunk warm, unlike the westerners or Europeans who like wine cool. Nice collections you have there Brenda, I will have to look further.....
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the little cups, Olivia. Thanks for sharing that information!
DeleteLMAO at the mousetrap cutting board - that's funny! What a great hostess gift - but you'd have to know the person well or they may well think you're implying her house has mice! hahaha. I love that, that's a great funky gift to handout. By the way, the quilts are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara. Sometimes it is hard to get a good picture of a quilt and they are indeed so lovely!
DeleteCongratulations on the sales on your great ebay store! Love the mousetrap cutting board, that is great fun! Quilts are so gorgeous and are very useful and beautiful in a home. Wishing you every success with your collections!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annie! Interesting how many of us enjoyed the mousetrap cutting board, LOL!
