We had our desktop computer for years with a printer that was linked via USB cable. When our desktop computer finally gave up on us it was time for a new computer. We decided it was time for a laptop. With a laptop we could use it anywhere in the house and take it with us when we traveled.
Now the problem became that every time we needed to print something we had to take the laptop to the printer and plug everything in. This got old very fast, so we thought that it was time for a new wireless printer.
We were out shopping one day and while walking by the computer section of the store we noticed the Epson WorkForce WF-2850 wireless printer. We knew that we wanted a wireless printer, so we bought it.
We brought it home and I just couldn’t wait to get started, you see I’m one of those people who like to jump right in. On the other hand, Fran is a stickler for following step-by-step instructions. So, I sat back and let Fran set our new wireless printer up. In about 15 minutes she had it working. We were delighted because now we can print from anywhere in the house.
Epson WF-2850 All in One Printer:
The Epson WF-2850 is a 4-in-1 wireless printer, copier, scan, and fax. It
features fast printing speeds, with 2-sided printing and a 30-page Auto
Document Feeder.
The wireless capability makes it easy to print from your iPad, iPhone,
Android tablet, or any smartphone.
When we were all forced to work from home last year, Fran found it easy to download the printer drivers to her work computer. This gave her the capability of using the scan and fax function from her work computer.
The instructions tell you to only use Epson ink cartridges. I can tell you from personal experience this is true. I tried third-party ink
cartridges and they don’t work.
This is a perfect home office printer choice that I would recommend to anybody. We have had many good years of quality use from this
printer.

It is amazing how far printers, and all technology, have come in the last 30 years. I remember the printer at work decades ago was huge and would have smashed me if I had needed to move it for any reason. Now, like you, I have a wireless printer in my home that I can lift and move for cleaning if needed. I also remember having to be "tethered" to our first in-home printer to use it. Our wireless printer is a huge improvement over a wired printer, but is somewhat finicky these days. I have been concerned that I might need to replace it soon and my current wireless printer is no longer available. Thanks to you, I now know what I could replace it with. I definitely need a workhorse printer!
ReplyDeletebtw, could I borrow Fran the next time I buy a printer, please? I am really bad about wanting to skip the necessary set-up and just plug and play :)
DeleteSylvestermouse, I'm with you! Why isn't everything plug-and-play these days? :)
DeleteWe have had such good luck with Epson printers. The wireless is just so convenient. Yes, you can borrow Fran any time :). She is perfect when it comes to putting new things together. Thanks!
DeleteLike Mouse, my current printer is beginning to be reaching that 'work off & on' phase of printer life. Good to have a solid recommendation for a replacement. Thanks, Sam.
ReplyDeleteWe love the Epson brand Pat. This is the second one we've owned. I hope your printer makes it a little longer for you. Thanks!
DeleteSam, John and I have owned a series of wireless multifunction printers since they came down enough in price to be affordable and I can't imagine ever being without one again! We use our laptops and mobile devices in many different rooms, so the ability to print from wherever we happen to be at the time is a must. Epson printers are great and your new one looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Margaret, having the ability to print from all our devices and from anywhere is a huge plus. Thanks!
DeleteSam we have one of these printers that my work decided to get rid of. It was still in good working order and we decided to bring it home! What a great little work horse that printer is. Now ours isn't so advanced as yours, it still is connected with cables, but as far as Epson goes, the printer is working as it should. If this one ever goes on the fritz, we will look at the wireless one for sure! Thanks Sam for a great review!
ReplyDeleteWe have always had great luck with the Epson brand, and this is the second printer we've had. They just keep on performing. Thanks Olivia!
DeleteA simple thing can make a big difference. Thanks for sharing your experience with your Epson wireless printer.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brenda, So true that something so simple make a difference.
DeletePrinters drive me bananas. Nice to know there's one reviewed and recommended here. My mother recently passed along her new laserjet printer, it's an HP - I don't have the ability to insert the disc for it into my laptop because it doesn't have a dvd slot so I had to download the drivers - well, there's a glitch with windows 10 that won't let me install the driver - grrrr - however it's NOT an Epson, it's an HP laserjet. Thanks for the recommendation to this one - I'll check it out when I'm in the market for one.
ReplyDeleteWe are currently without a printer and looking for a new one, so your review is timely! I had not even thought about a wireless printer but there do seem to be many benefits. We have not had an Epson brand before so your review is very useful. I work mainly on a laptop and I don't use it all the time in the same room the printer was. So being able to print from any room would be a real bonus. The setup sounds quite straightforward.Thank you for this review!
