There is no doubt that our family loves pasta. We enjoy
making our own homemade pasta whenever time allows.
We have had and used, our Atlas pasta machine for years, and
with this machine, you can make different types of noodles. With everybody’s
busy schedules we don’t always have the time to make the dough, roll it out and
run it through the machine.
It was just after Christmas 2020 when I was flipping
through the television channels, and I came across Emeril Lagasse’s
infomercial for his Pasta & Beyond machine.
I immediately stopped flipping the channels, number one
because I like Emeril Lagasse and number two, I love homemade pasta. I’m usually
not an impulse buyer, but after watching the infomercial I knew that I had to
have this.
I bought the complete system, which includes a shredder, a slicer,
a meat grinder, a slow juicer, and a frozen treat maker. This post is about the
pasta machine, as I have not tried the others yet. Although, my daughter did
use the meat grinder and she liked its performance.
What you get with Pasta and Beyond:
The pasta machine
Liquid measuring cup
Dry measuring cup
Mixing Chamber
Pasta Discs (8 different types of pasta)
Spatula/cleaning tool
Cleaning brush
A recipe book that includes so many pasta recipes, and there
is even a gluten-free pasta recipe.
The different types of pasta that you can make with your Pasta and Beyond:
Penne
Spaghetti
Linguine
Tagliatelle
Udon (This is one I haven't had before)
Angel Hair
Fettucine
Lasagna
Making homemade pasta with this machine is so easy. You
just add the dry ingredients into the mixing chamber. Prepare the wet ingredients
in the provided measuring cup. Turn on the machine according to the
instructions. Then, add the wet ingredients slowly through the mixing chamber
lid.
The machine will mix for about 5 minutes and then it will
go in reverse to begin extruding the pasta. The best part is that you can have
homemade pasta on the table in about 30 minutes.
If you are in a pasta-making mood the pasta is easy to freeze. Make a few pounds of your favorite, freeze it, and have homemade pasta anytime. The machine is also very easy to clean.
In this photo, we are getting ready to make some homemade linguine. We used Emeril's Pasta recipe with all-purpose flour and semolina flour.
Really cool, Sam, to be able to make your favorite style & shape of pasta and noodles anytime you want. I remember when Bob & I were first married and his feisty little grandmother (a lady you never said no to) insisted on teaching me to make homemade noodles from scratch because she knew Bob loved her homemade chicken & noodles. I DID learn, but it was a lot of work to try and cut out the dough in even strips. I can tell this machine would make all my strips perfectly even. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I have always wanted to make my own pasta and I am crazy about Emeril. It sounds like this pasta machine takes most of the work out of it and allows us to have fresh pasta just about anytime. Going on my Christmas wish list! I'm sure I will have fun making pasta with my own family. Thank you for the review and recommendation Sam!
ReplyDeleteSam, you’ll laugh when I tell you that I have owned several Atlas pasta machines over the decades (for my current one, I upgraded to an Atlas 180 with a motor and foot pedal), and all except the first have been dedicated to use with polymer clay only, lol. I got my first one when I was in my early twenties and fancied myself a gourmet home cook, and the fresh pasta I made from scratch was, indeed, head and shoulders above the store-bought kind. But given the tiny kitchen in my NYC apartment, which had little counter space, I ended up having to sheet and cut my fettuccine on the dining room table, which meant semolina flour ended up on the rug. So, my homemade pasta ventures were short-lived.
ReplyDeleteThe Emeril Lagasse Pasta & Beyond machine certainly simplifies the pasta making process, requiring a lot less elbow grease - and space! I can imagine how lovely it must be to enjoy fresh pasta frequently with minimal fuss and effort, thanks to this handy small appliance.
Wow homemade pasta in 30 minutes. That is great. I love pasta, but have given it up of late. My other family members are another whole story and they will probably love jumping on this bandwagon. I will share it with others as I do appreciate your expertise Sam!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fast way to make pasta! My friend makes pasta by hand and it sure does take a long time - this would be a fantastic solution for her!
ReplyDeleteOh I love pasta and this sounds a wonderful way to make it and very quick too! I love that you can make all those different types of pasta. Thank you for a great review and recommendation.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great review and I must put it on my priority list. Sure would make life easier - thank you so much
ReplyDeleteI'm very unhappy bought the pasta machine and I have had a couple over the years. First time we started it 2 of the paddles broke off. I called customer service and was told they would send me out a new part but I had to pay 9.00 for shipping. Never received anything would like to Sen it back. So very disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that you had problems with this product. Ours has worked perfectly every time we used it.
ReplyDeleteHave you a recipe for pierogi dough? Can't find on for this maker.
