SOLDIER LOVE STORY
In Soldier Love Story, a ten-year old boy named Jared's life fell apart when his parents divorced. His Dad seems to put his job ahead of him and his mother makes him move in with his Grandma in California so that his mom can take a job there. When the boy's classroom writes letters to U.S. troops who are posted in Afghanistan, a sergeant named Vince who himself had no father takes a shine to the boy and corresponds with him in a fatherly manner. When Vince returns from Afghanistan, he is warmly welcomed and becomes a boyfriend to the boy's mother, with the understanding that there can be no commitment because he will likely be sent back to Afghanistan.
Soldier Love Story was originally called Meet My Mom. It is a lovely story and would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift for any Mom who loves Hallmark movies and in particular for any Mom with a connection to the Armed Forces. It is a hugely popular Hallmark movie with viewers praising it because it combines a bit of romance and family with a lot of respect for soldiers.
Please note that this is not actually a Hallmark movie. Rather, it is a made-for-tv movie that first aired as the lead movie for the Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Mother's Day in 2009. Brenda, this is a wonderful selection of gift ideas for Mom. Love the 'conversations to keep' idea, as it is something I would have enjoyed now that my children are all grown up. And, being a big coffee drinker, I love having a collection of unique coffee mugs and those Ken Sheldon mugs really fit the bill as special for mom.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful gift suggestions for mothers. I sure wish I had the recordable book from when my children were little. What a delightful treasure that would be. I also love getting Hallmark videos! I have a nice video collection that my children have given me over the years. Some I have rewatched a dozen times or more. Of course, I love the idea of the shadow box picture frame or the coffee mug. Those are also things I seem to collect, whether intended or just the way things happened.

ReplyDeleteOne of my most treasured possessions is the series of audio cassettes I asked my mom to record, retelling some of her wonderful stories about her life experiences. The Hallmark Conversations to Keep recordable books are an inspired idea sure to become treasured keepsakes for years to come.
All of these are great ideas. Personally I love my coffee mugs so a new one of those would be really nice. I like that there are so many choices and each one would be lovely. Thanks for this lovely list of possibilities Brenda!
