About Chewy.com
Chewy.com is an online source for pet supplies. A large variety of pets. You can choose to "shop by pet" and that includes: dogs, cats, fish, birds, reptiles, small pets, and horses.
Their mission statement is:
"We're working to become the largest pet retailer in the world with the most satisfied customers. Our success is measured by the happiness of the people and pets we serve, not simply by the amount of pet supplies we deliver."
After my experience, I believe that they are working hard to complete that mission.
I found the site to be easy to navigate and super easy to find the items and brands I was shopping for.
With a coupon I received in the mail, I took the plunge and ordered four cases Willy and Daisy's canned dog food. With the coupon and free shipping combined that dog food cost less than it would have if I had purchased it at Wal-Mart.
I like to buy my dog and cat supplies in bulk - cutting down on trips to the store. But loading, unloading, and carrying all that up three flights of stairs becomes annoying. Imagine 2 large bags of dog food, a 5 lb. bag of cat food, a container of cat litter, and a case of canned dog food in a typical stock-up shopping trip. That translates to multiple heavy-duty trips up and down the stairs.
Finally, I have browsed the site several times and confirmed that they offer every brand of dog food, dog treat, cat food, and cat litter that I buy. Including one of the dog food brands I purchase that is regularly out-of-stock at my local stores.
The Reason I'd Give My Experience 4 out of 5 Stars
If I were giving a starred review, I'd give 4 out of 5 stars - subtracting one star for our local delivery service.
I've learned that in the Baltimore area we have a delivery service in addition to UPS, FedEx, and the postal service. It is called LaserShip. I'm not at all pleased with LaserShip.
LaserShip listed an expected delivery date. Two days after that date, I contacted them. Their response was that there was a delay and I'd receive my shipment in 1-2 days. Those additional days passed and suddenly my tracking information showed that my delivery was "left at door" on the original delivery date that was listed.
Only problem was... it wasn't left at my door. I happened to be home that evening (and ironically, receiving a delivery of curtains and curtain rods from one of the other delivery services). So I contacted LaserShip again. After another couple of days their response was that my delivery was lost and I should contact "the seller.". It was only then that I realized I was not communicating with Chewy.com customer service.
I contacted Chewy.com customer service. They were professional, quick, and shipped my items a second time. For free. With no run around or misinformation whatsoever.
I received that order on the promised date.
Related to Chewy.com only, I could imagine myself becoming a regular client. I'm totally sold on the savings and convenience. However, I'm planning on learning more about this LaserShip company to learn if I can receive my Chewy.com orders without LaserShip's "help".
I highly recommend Chewy.com to other pet owners.
Wow! Chewy.com sounds fabulous!!! I have been ordering pet supplies, and other heavy items like water, through Amazon for exactly the reason you stated. It is hard to unload and carry the heavy items from the car. Delivery services have dollies to aid them, but we don't carry those around with us. In you case, with stairs, I doubt even dollies would be helpful. I will definitely have to try Chewy.com and I will most certainly beware of Lasership.
ReplyDeleteIf you try it, you'll have to let me know how you like it. While I was away, I see that I received some coupons in my email. If they keep sending coupons, it will keep being less expensive than my local big box store. I like less expensive!
DeleteOh my goodness, what a great find. I can't imagine having to carry up that amount of pet food at my building. They bring it to your door! WOW! I know a lot of people who will be happy to know about this service. Thank Dawn Rae for finding this service for us.
ReplyDeleteI used to like the workout that carrying groceries and pet foods up the stairs gave... but not so much anyone. Haha. It's time for me to start letting others carry it up the stairs.
DeleteSounds like the perfect place for ordering Pet Supplies, Dawn Rae. Hope you get the local delivery service problem worked out. Delivery problems for a delivery service.... oh my! Not the way to stay in business. But glad Chewy.com sounds wonderful as a pet supply company.
ReplyDeleteI was very pleased about Chewy's customer service. Thank you. I'm hoping I can figure out how to avoid using Lasership - especially since I have more Chewy coupons to use.
DeleteI'll have to give Chewy.com a try. Seems like I am making special trips into town every few days (to purchase food for my animals). The savings in gas money would be significant (and time is money, too). Lately, the big box store where I buy my pet food is always out of the brand my animals prefer. Thanks for sharing your experience with Chewy so we can all feel more confident about giving them a try.
ReplyDeleteIt is my pet peeve (pun intended!) going to the store only to find an empty spot on the shelf where my dog and cat food brands should be. I don't know why they can't keep it stocked. If you try it, I hope you let me know how it works for you.
DeleteI am a fan of Chewy! Very nice savings on prescription dog food and the delivery. When buying a case, delivery to the door is necessary. Hope the local delivery issues gets sorted out... been there done that with the 3rd floor!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear from another fan of Chewy. It makes me even more confident about using them regularly. Thank you for your comment.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to mention this site to a few family members. Sounds like a reliable place. Excellent review as well.
