We may be apart, but
You Are Not Forgotten
I can understand you equating your birthday with summer ending, but I keep thinking there are forty-plus days of summer left to enjoy at this point, and enjoy them you will in that kayak of yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing Mary Beth's blog link. I had not yet visited her blog... Have now!
Ruth, you are such a glass-half-full thinker and I am not. Forty-plus days of kayaking left... that sounds MUCH better. :)
DeleteI was thinking, just yesterday, how I could feel the approach of fall (my favorite season). I hope you enjoy every last minute of summer. Keep that kayak in the water and soak up the sun.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is a GORGEOUS time of year. And I love it too. Like I said to Mouse, below, I don't understand why I miss summer so much when I love autumn and the things it brings (Apple Harvest Festival! changing leaves! etc) but... i do miss summer so much when it's gone.
DeleteI definitely plan to soak up as much sun and Chesapeake Bay water as possible between now and first frost! :)
I always enjoy reading your posts about the mid Atlantic states. I was able to visit there last week and loved it. I love all the history, the beautiful flowers and especially the lighthouses! Thanks for including the link to my lighthouse log.
ReplyDeleteMary Beth, you are so welcome! I spent parts of the past two days on a "beach"... and one of the wonderful parts of the scenery is a thing I call a lighthouse. It's in the water, and it isn't a house, so perhaps it has another name. But I love that it's there and a part of the view. So.. how wonderful when I found your blog post!
DeleteI can't wait to read more about your travels. I do hope there are many lenses or blog posts in store for us.
You always write the most beautiful articles, and this one is certainly no exception. I have been feeling rather melancholy myself for the last 2 days. I woke up this morning thinking about having to order school books. I believe you put your finger on exactly why I have been out of sorts. I always hate the beginning of the school year as our lives shift from having our children at home, hanging out and doing their own thing to the routine of classes, homework and pressure.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I need a stroll on a beach or a day with a kayak.
Thank you, Mouse. You are so sweet.
DeleteYes, time outside would probably help. I am always puzzled that I feel like this when I truly love autumn and all it brings. It's just still so sad to me when summer ends. Yes, it was much worse when the kids were still young and we had to switch back into school mode.
Yes, I vote that you get outside and soak up some summer sun.
I feel the same way about my birthday and summer, so I can totally relate to your page - both the pages you referenced here were very enjoyable to visit as well (the seashell page by RamKitten is my step-daughters hobby!...she's such an expert on seashells) - What gets me through the end of summer, is knowing we're heading into autumn in all it's glory of color
