As the new “Green Living” Contributor, I have a dream
of pioneering an entirely new kind of online ecovillage.
Together, you and I, along with other kindred
spirits, can build something uniquely vibrant that has the capacity to make a
real difference.
We hear a great deal these days about living green, but what
does that really mean?
It means
something different to each one of us.
I
like to say there are 10,000 shades of green.
Though my shade of green is
off grid green, not everyone has the desire
or immediate capacity to take that leap.
And that is okay.
Be your own
shade of green.
When I first made the decision to live more sustainably, I
had a lot to learn. Come to think of it,
I still have a lot to learn. That is the
best part of finding my inner green… growing every day. The thing is, it is much more rewarding to
grow together.
What if we thought of our online interactions as a form of
human photosynthesis? Being bathed in
the light and energy of those who care about leaving the world a better place
is one way we increase our own green.
One hour of sunlight makes a huge difference to a plant. Just imagine the power of one when it comes
to shining your light in a way that greens up the planet.
I invite you to bring your green. Be the photosynthesis you wish to see in the
world. Tell us your story. Review the green products you use and
love. Share a tutorial that shows us how
you do green. You can start by taking a
moment to visit our new village green. While
there, if you haven’t yet become a Hubpages member, please take a few seconds to
join. It’s one more way of increasing
your green.
As Tom Bodett always says, “We’ll keep the light on for
you.” In this case, it will be the light
of your new Squidoo/Hubpages friends. Welcome
home.

I love this: "Be your own shade of green". So eloquent! Sounds like you are the perfect person to run the new green village on this journey to find the depth of our own green color. I look forward to the trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mandee. Looking forward to seeing your true colors as we share this journey.
DeleteCongratulations on being selected the Green Living contributor. You'll be wonderful in your new role. My favorite shade of green... Recycle It Green! I'm looking forward to meeting the other shades of green at your party!
ReplyDeleteYou are a rainbow of green with all that you do related to recycling, upcycling, and reducing waste (to name just a few of the critical things you do to live green). I'm counting on our tag team partnership in all things green.
DeleteThis is great! It encourages those of us who are perhaps not ready to be "off grid green" to find a way we can be green. I am really looking forward to reading about the ideas you will be presenting.
ReplyDeleteAs photographers, we are fortunate that digital cameras and online photo sharing platforms have already made us so much greener. I imagine that is just one of your lovely shades of green.
DeleteThis is going to be a lot of fun and I look forward to learning new "shades of green".
ReplyDeleteWe will have fun. That's the best shade of green.
DeleteI love your idea of the power of one shining light as we all follow your lead to go green! Naturally, I (as abitosunshine) love shining a bit o' sunshine the Squidoo way!
ReplyDeleteYou are the Queen of Photosynthesis when it comes to shining your light on all who cross paths with you.
DeleteDiana, you are just the perfect person for this new role! I adore your perspective of "What if we thought of our online interactions as a form of human photosynthesis? Being bathed in the light and energy of those who care about leaving the world a better place is one way we increase our own green." You certainly are a shining example!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret, for appreciating what I shared about our capacity to be the photosynthesis needed in the world. You certainly shine brightly and always make me happy to be in your presence.
