Summertime is almost here and with it comes the heat and humidity that most people love and hate at the same time! We've all been waiting patiently (most of the time) for winter to end! Well I think it's safe to say that it is now over! At least here in the Southern parts of Ontario, winter has definitely left us and we have already moved through our short spring! Most of the Magnolia trees have already blossomed and the Crab Apple trees are now in full bloom.

At this time of year, being of a certain age, I find that my own body thermometer seems to get out of whack. Call it hormones, if you like, but I know that the uncomfortable days are coming quickly and I want to be prepared.
One of the things I love to do during the summer months is to enjoy the outdoors and still be comfortable. Whether it's playing in my little garden area with my containers of veggies that are growing on my balcony or picking up my favorite book to read for a while, comfort to me is of utmost importance.
There is nothing worse than trying to enjoy the great outdoors while dripping with perspiration due to the humidity. Oh I could go indoors and sit in the comfort of the air conditioning, but what is the point in that?
I waited for summer to come and now I want to be out there enjoying it. Now I can share with you my little lifesaver. I was introduced to this gadget through a friend who is having hot flashes like crazy! While visiting her for instructions on her dog's needs (I was going to doggie sit) she pulls out these neat little fans and puts them around her neck. Not only does she cool right off, but, she can and does continue to take me through all the instructions with these little fans running. They are quiet and cool her right off in a matter of minutes. Now, I'm older than she is and I thought I was all through those nasty hot flashes, then they came back with a vengeance. That was a surprise to me and I needed help.
Thank God for girlfriends who share their great finds with each other.
These little fans look great. Here in St. Louis we have an outdoor theatre that operates every summer. We can sit outside and enjoy great productions like Chicago, Sound of Music, Cats and much more. The only problem is that in the summer the evenings can get quite hot and humid. Those little fans sound like a perfect solution.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed at how well they work. If you are anything like me, it's my head that seems to get overheated and makes the rest of me feel uncomfortable. These work for up to 48 hours without recharging which is also great.
DeleteI've seen these neck fans and agree they would be an aid toward keeping you comfortable on hot summer days.
ReplyDeleteThey really work well. I'm sold on them and they are quite quiet so that helps too.
DeleteLike you, I love the summertime and fun outdoor activities, but I don't love the heat. These lightweight & quiet fans seem like a great solution. We enjoy walking trails and I can certainly see how the fans would be great for that too.
ReplyDeletePortability is #1 and these fit that bill really well. You'd enjoy them for sure. Hiking and biking, just walking around is more enjoyable when you aren't bathing in sweat!
DeleteAll winter I look forward to Spring and summer but like you I find it difficult to cope with heat and humidity. This year more than usual after having surgery I need to keep out of the sun and keep cooler. We can of course sit indoors in front of a fan, but that is no good when we want to be outdoors and enjoy all the nature, wildlife blossoms and flowers! These fans look a great way to keep cool and enjoy the outdoors!
ReplyDeleteFor you, post surgery, these would be fantastic to help you keep cool. I really love being outdoors and being comfortable on top of it is just the cat's meow for me!
ReplyDeleteI seem to have a “broken thermostat,” lol - I’m always too cold in winter and too hot in summer. I have used a fabric-covered, frozen “blue ice” neck wrap that works well, but if I’m out all afternoon, the frozen “ice” melts in the heat and no longer provides cooling until I have had a chance to refreeze it.
ReplyDeleteThese wireless fans on a neckband look like something I could really use. Thanks for sharing your find!
Margaret, I was so happy to see these on my friend Lisa. She's a nail artist and uses them while she works. I borrowed them for a little while and was very pleased with how they cooled me off. Hence forward, I shall remain cool as a cucumber even on the hottest days.
Deletethat is seriously a terrific idea - hadn't heard of these! Also, what a great gift idea - Most of us in our family run hot, so this could work for everyone I know!
ReplyDeleteIf you know anyone who runs "hot", these would be ideal. I was amazed at how quickly I felt relief when I put them on. Charge lasts for about 48 hours too, so you can go out and do all your running around and still be cool! I love them!
DeleteWhat a handy little gadget for the hot summer days. This will be perfect to use while walking or sitting out on the deck and enjoying the sun.
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect in both those cases Sam. And while most of the people I know who really love this are women, it's not made in a way that a man could not use it either.
