When I find an author I enjoy, I tend to collect all their books and often reread them. After a year or two, it's a joy to revisit the stories and characters I've loved. And when it's a series, I begin with book one and read my way through in order. Absolutely astonishing. My mom can sure read a book fast, in one night sometimes, so it shouldn't surprise me. Of course I read too, but it's mostly on my phone and computer, and it is rather constant, so I guess it's possible. And 55 books! WOWZA. I like what you explain how the author starts backwards from the body, then Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12436522337338948135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1874262419752354657.post-85282237727433591042018-09-01T15:02:03.148-05:002018-09-01T15:02:03.148-05:00Steve Carella became a very likable lead character...Steve Carella became a very likable lead character throughout Ed McBain's series. In subsequent books he meets and marries a charming girl who is deaf (learning sign language as a result) and fathers twins. One becomes as interested in his family life as in his working cop life. This really is a delightful series.

Fifty-five books was a huge amount for an author to write, even Wednesday Elfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11125647693828663780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1874262419752354657.post-24910698596272205352018-09-01T09:57:44.788-05:002018-09-01T09:57:44.788-05:00Wow, 55 books in one series!!! I am guessing there is no way it would have been as successful if the publisher had allowed Steve Carella to be killed off. It sounds like a fabulous series Elf. I love murder mysteries so this author and his many books will now be added to my must read list. Thanks for increasing my library shelf to the point of overflowing.
